DRESS FOR THE OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY

HOW SHOULD MEN DRESS FOR THE OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY?

From the office gala to a big night out with your best pals, deciding how to dress for the festive season can be fuddling. And as the festive season of Christmas is fast approaching, you see there is a never-ending line-up of frolic and revelry, but yet there can be no compromise when it comes to dressing right for the occasion. Go too flamboyant, you’ll look as if you are trying too hard and too casual means you’re nothing short of carelessness.
By all intents and purposes, no matter what the event is, you need to beef up your dressing sense. And therefore, you need to understand and interpret the dress code before deciding upon a specific style.

Location, Location, Location…
One deciding factor that will dictate your outfit style this season is the location. If the festivities are happening in the office or the pub or somewhere off from the workplace, then you needn’t worry about playing showstopper. However, if your kind of company or organization is something that prefers high-class cocktails to casual drinks, go for a luxury look. For a more relaxed and laid back look at the office, I recommend a somewhat marginally refined version of the everyday workwear.

Colors and how it matter
If you think putting on a grey suit paired with a white shirt and accessorized with a plain tie is the way to go, then adhere with that theme for an upscale look. Ensure your suit is slim-cut and sports an impeccable tailored look. Go for a visually richer hue such as claret or navy blue, and pair it up with stylish derby shoe as accessories. If your office doesn’t have a formal dress code, then add a bit of oomph to party life by trading your crow-neck tee with an Oxford shirt and sporty sneakers with a chic leather pair. When you need to attend smart receptions, remember a tux can never let you down, but yes if there is a clear instruction in the invite to wear only “black tie”, don’t shy away from going for a one with a princely panache.
Guaranteed fresh look
Give a facelift to your outfit by including a subtle print or texture to it—brocade, velvet and understated checks are all first past the post here—and do watch for what you wear underneath. A button-up shirt will probably serve sticklers for conventional dressing, while even a decent T-shirt or roll neck will generate an instant classic look yet so up-to-date. Alternatively, you can give a zing look to your outfit with accessories such as a stylish cufflinks or brightly colored pocket square.
