Cleaning, Maintaining and Caring for your Suit (Things men should learn today)

Indeed, suits are essential in a man’s life. Whether it be office days or celebrations, suits become the primary attire for men. Having said this, how many suits or tuxes should a man buy in his lifetime? Well, it is an all-new question for discussion. But we can help you learn how to clean and maintain the suits that you already own. A well-maintained suit can last longer than you think.

Have you heard of legacy suits? Yes, in many families, dad’s suits get passed on to their sons and sometimes to grandsons. Unbelievable, right? Anyhow, we’ve given a few easy ways in which you can care for your suit. Let’s get started!

Storage Tips For Your SuitHow to store suits in your closet?
Ways to hang your suits
-Wooden hangers are perfect to reserve your suits in the closet. Because they help in absorbing moisture and retain the delicacy of the fabric.
-Also, in the absence of moisture, moths cannot feed on your suits.
-If not wooden hangers, try using plastic ones.
-However, the size and shape of the hanger must require attention. A perfect size drapes the suit properly. And does not allow a change in the shape of the suit.
-Rounded hangers are suitable for supporting the wide-shoulder and pads in blazers.
-You can choose between 18 to 22 inches hangers for suits.

Let your suit breathe for a while
-Suits require proper breathing inside your cupboard or closet. So you can dump or compress.
-Better to use garment bags instead of directly hanging your suits. It prevents dust accumulation and moth formation upon the fabric.
-In addition, packing your suit compactly may lead to unwanted shrinks on the fabric.
-Having said this, ensure you do not allow humidity to get built up in your cupboard.

How to pack your suit during travel?
Most men are unaware of how to pack their suits for travel. Here is a step-by-step guide.
-The first step is to flip the jacket.
-The second step is to press the shoulders gently.
-The third step is to ensure the seams and lapels line up.
-The fourth step is to roll the garment from bottom to up freely.
This way, you can avoid wrinkles and unnecessary folds. Also, it looks perfect when you wear it. Sometimes you can steam it once if required.

Cleaning & Caring Tips For Your Suit
Is brushing required for your suits?
-Textile experts suggest a minimum of one-minute brushing after each use of your suit. It will help in the proper setting of the fibers in the fabric.
-Consistent brushing after use will retain the integrity of the fabric.
-Ensure you get a brush with ultra-soft bristles that is made up of animal hair. Horse hair brushes are quite popular for brushing men’s suits.
-Ensure you brush in a downward direction.
-A ten-inch animal hair brush shows a good finish.

Why is spot cleaning essential for suits?
-Majorly, spot cleaning eliminates the suit from frequent dry cleaning and exposure to detergents or chemicals. Also, it is the easiest way to clean any spills.
-Use a damp cloth or wet wipes to spot clean. It does not change the shade of your suit fabric.
-Try this as soon as possible if you see such stains or spills. Also, dry it under sunlight for a while for better results.
-Unless you sense ripeness, do not take it to the dry cleaners.

Importance of steaming your suit
-Steaming removes the wrinkles from fabrics after use and avoids the burning of the fibers from high heat when ironing.
-Either buy a steamer or use hot water to steam your suits.
-Most men prefer portable and handy steamers.

We hope you learned something useful today. Looking forward to your comments!

BEST SUITS COLOR COMBINATIONS EVERY MAN MUST HAVE IN THEIR WARDROBE

When it comes to color psychology in fashion or garments, it plays a major part. In any outfit you wear, what people see first is the color. It not only grabs the attention but creates the first impression. In addition, research proves that color influences the mood of the wearer and the way people respond.

Therefore, you know how vital in a man’s life is choosing the suit color. Over the years, men’s suit styles have changed but not the basic (must-have) color combinations. So, make your choice wisely by wearing the right suit color for the right occasion. And create the best impression!

Popular Suits Color Combinations That Every Man Must Have

By and large, the darker the color, the higher the authority or empowerment. Thus, when the shades go darker, it becomes more formal and basic. Hence, they become a part of every man’s wardrobe!

Gray Suit Color Combination

Gray is the most basic color combination in suits for men. This color suits most skin tones and looks good on almost every man out there. Hence, it is the most liked and versatile suit color combination.

You can switch between formal and informal suits with different shades of gray. A dark or medium gray best matches formal occasions or meetings. On the other side, a light gray goes well with more casual occasions.

Accessories:

  • White shirts match well
  • A dark-shaded tie or a bow
  • Black leather shoes

Blue Suit Color Combination

Blue is an evergreen color combination when it comes to suits. Why? It suits both daytime and evening occasions!

Switching between formal and informal occasions is possible. It depends on the shirt or waistcoat you wear along with the blue suit. A dark navy blue suit is one best choices if you’re buying your first formal suit!

Accessories:

  • Brown leather shoes
  • A dark brown or maroon tie
  • Shirt color (based on the occasion)

Black Suit Color Combination

Indeed, black is the classic and timeless suit color combination. The only drawback is that it may not suit all skin tones.

You can easily play with black color for both formal and casual gatherings. Buy a black suit if most events you attend are formal. And a black tuxedo if casual or partying.

Accessories:

  • Light pink, blue, or green shirts (apart from the statement complementary color – white)
  • A brown or gold-hued tie

Tan Suit Color Combination

Probably, tan is a neutral shade suit color combination. However, it is a unique combination. Because so far we’ve seen only light-shade shirt combinations for all the aforementioned suit colors. However, with a tan suit, only a dark-colored shirt matches well.

Accessories:
(As the suit is lighter in color)

  • Shirts and shoes must get darker
  • Tie and pocket square must get lighter

Important Aspect of Men’s Outfit for Midwinter: The Material

The foremost aspect of wearing a particular type of outfit material for a particular season is to keep yourself comfortable and relaxed. For example, a woolen outfit is best for winter and not summer. At the same time, cotton shirts work best during summers and not winters. Thus, in this midwinter period, you gotta choose your outfit material purposefully and wisely.

Here are some suggestions from Bucco.

(i) Material Suggestions for Clothing: Wool or Cashmere, Silk, Polyester, Fur or down, Velvet

(ii) Material Suggestions for Shoes: Leather, Rubber, Neoprene

(iii) Material Suggestions for Overcoats/ jackets: Corduroy, Flannel, Hemp-fibres, Faux Fur

Winter-Formals

Men’s Midwinter Outfit for Formal Occasions

Suits or tuxedos are the best outfits for any formal occasion. In this case, during midwinters, you gotta choose your suits selectively. Do not wear the suits that you wore in summer or spring.

Instead, go with a snug or heating-up material three-piece suit set. Pair your overcoat with thick pants. Remember to include winter accessories of your choice in your outfit. That will add more warmth when you feel too cold. Also, choose formal colors when buying your clothing and accessories.

Men’s Midwinter Outfit for Informal Occasions
Ofcourse, informal occasions are umpteen in winter. You have Christmas, New Year, Snow Sculpture Championships, and a lot more winter carnivals. For these occasions, you can wear a cardigan inside. And a puffed or wool-hooded jacket outside.

Another great choice is oversized (not too large) long overcoats or jackets. Indeed, they give the finest warmth to handle the frozen surroundings. Include a scarf and a glove to add charm to your super cool casual outfit.

5 Important Tips for Staying Warm With Your Outfit

  • Ensure proper layering with a two or three-piece suit or outfit. If you’re indoors, you must be able to remove the outmost layer. If you’re outdoors, you must be able to add another layer.
  • Include a sweater or cardigan as a mandatory layer in your outfit.
  • Wear winter accessories wherever you go. Do carry a set of skull caps, gloves, or scarves in your bag.
  • Add to your wardrobe at least two pairs of winter shoes. Ordinary shoes are no more useful in winter.
  • Try getting a proper fit for your overcoats or jackets. Sometimes wearing an oversized coat may look funny or shapeless.

HOW TO DRESS FOR CHRISTMAS DAY FOR MEN

What you wear on Christmas Day is really important. It could be difficult to find the ideal clothing for the best day of the year. Prior to everything else, decide how formal you want Christmas Day to be. If it’s just your little family, you might want to keep your Christmas clothes on the more casual side. Even then, it depends on how big the visiting family is.

If it’s only your family members, even a casual outfit is okay, but if the grandparents are coming, Consider dressing in a more formal manner. If you’re hosting or attending a Christmas party, you might want to dress up a little more and lean toward a more formal appearance with casual aspects. However, colour is a need for every outfit you select! Whether you decide to wear a formal suit or a tee and jeans, add colour! Also in great quantity.

Colors
Maintain the Christmas-related hues of red, green, gold, and silver. Maybe not all at once, unless you want to look like a Christmas tree. Make your choice of complementary colours and figure out the correct ratio. Whether it entails donning a burgundy shirt with a dark green tie or a green shirt with golden embellishments.

Patterns
A tried-and-true pattern will do wonders if you’re not sure what to wear in terms of colour. The decision to continue wearing green and red plaid is always straightforward. If you’re feeling a little braver, look for a print pattern with a whimsical holiday design to bring a festive touch to any outfit.

Formals
If you want to appear adequately formal, you may purchase a full suit. However, given that it’s Christmas, you might prefer a cosier outfit for any formal occasions or holiday gatherings to which you’ve been invited.

For a semi-formal but still quite formal occasion, you can incorporate components from a suit to give you that formal look. An excellent shirt, chinos or dark slacks, and a suit jacket would appear put-together yet relaxed. You can stay warm if it’s chilly by layering a stylish Christmas sweater with a timeless design underneath the suit jacket.

Casuals
Casual clothing is appropriate for casual events. A jumper, a shirt, and trousers make the perfect outfit. A simple watch, some lovely shoes, and stylish Christmas attire are the finishing touches. If you’re heading to any type of function where Christmas crackers will certainly be present, the finishing touches to your dress can be a paper crown and a classic Christmas cracker joke.

Another option for a casual dress is to wear a shirt with a cute Christmas motif. An elegant pair of pants and a festive top will convey the festive vibe without needing to appear unduly formal.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about appropriate Christmas Day attire for men. Merry Christmas!

Fall Wedding Attire For Men: A Perfect Guide to Groom, Best Man, and Groomsmen

Fall is one of the high seasons for weddings. Most probably due to the cold weather! As winters are icy, the wedding season begins early in September. And ends in late November. Here are the key factors that the wedding attire for a groom primarily depends on :

Suit Material Suitable For Fall Season
A slightly heavier material like wool works perfectly for the fall season. Though it’s not frosting, wool provides the required insulation on your big day. In wool, you have umpteen varieties to choose from:
-Wool flannel
-Plaid
-Herringbone
-Worsted wool
Also, wearing wool-based attire makes you look dapper and stylish. Plus, befits both formal and informal looks.

Occasion or Event Type
A Series of events make a wedding. And not all are one. Some are formal events, and some are not. So, choose your attire particular to events in your wedding.
If it’s a formal wedding, pack yourself with a perfectly tailored suit that gives you a royal look and style.
The combinations could be,
-Blue or black blazers
-Complementing waistcoats and shirts
-A white or black tie
-Dark-hued leather shoes (do not go for patent leather ones)

On the contrary, if yours is an informal wedding, then go for tuxedos. Tuxedos actually look both semi-formal and casual for a wedding. The combinations could be,
-Warm and bright color coats
-A bow tie
-Lapel flower
-French cuffed shirts
-Patent leather shoes

Indoor or Outdoor Event?
The only thing you need to pay attention to is the number of pieces in your attire. Because wearing a four-piece suit for an indoor ceremony will drench you in sweat.

Thus, we recommend wearing a shirt and a waistcoat or an overcoat for indoor events. In this case, you’ll feel comfortable and breathable in this attire.

Whereas, for an outdoor event in the fall season, you have to go with either the three or four-piece attire. Only such attire can give you warmth and keep you relaxed throughout the event.

Time of the Day
Either the wedding could be a morning or evening (after 6 pm) ceremony. With the morning ceremony, suits in olive, grey, and brown look great. Beyond comparison, for the evening ceremony, go with tan, light golden brown, or burnt orange shades of suits or tuxedos.

Venue Type
“Fall weddings are made in heaven!”
Yes, imagine your wedding in the backyard under the moonlight! That’s the blissful moment of your lifetime! So go and get the best attire customized for you!
Some weddings happen at a ballroom or farm. So plan your style accordingly.

How About the Attire for Bestman and Groomsmen?
Well, choosing attire for the best man and groomsmen is the biggest challenge. They have to show off less than the groom yet gleaming than the other guests at the wedding.
A best man can choose to wear a suit or a blazer that blends with both the groom and the groomsmen. Or only pair up with the groom as he is the right stand.
While groomsmen can either complement or contrast the attire or hues of the groom.

Last But Not The Least!
A groom can choose any style of fall wedding attire. However, the hook lies in the match with his women!

CHECK THIS OUT FOR FALL- WINTER TRANSITION OUTFIT

Now that fall is almost approaching its end here, the spotlight is on the different Fall- Winter transition essentials that can range anything from corduroy pants to warm clothes including jackets, knitted sweaters, shirts and woolen cardigans. It is equally important to focus on the color and experiment it. We’ve already discussed fall colors in detail in some of our previous blogs including brown, beige, ochre, orange, etc.

You can easily transition the fall-winter phase by maintaining the fashion quotient as a whole through trendy options that offer comfort and style at its peak, from distinct, ingenious weaves and blends, to disruptive attire keeping in line with trends and ever-growing needs of men’s clothing. Here are some of the ways you can transition this phase with the right fashion this year. I share the predominant trends that are seasonally apt and dashing, and can be part of any wardrobe.

Sweaters
Sweaters top the list of winter wear. In addition to normal light sweaters, you can include texture and heavier fabrics using a dynamically vibrant color palette to your wardrobe. Add knitwear in groovy hues, from turtleknecks to cardigans, as they flatter the body, beautify your outfit, and yet keep you warm and cozy.

Jackets and coats
It seems like denim hoody jackets and varsity jackets have caught the attention of the youth, and rightly so. They are all the flavor of the season—casual, comfy and posh, yet minimalist at the same time. There are other types of jackets including Sherpa jackets, reversible jackets and light puff jackets which can be coordinated with green and blue colors, and heavy parka coats which come nicely insulated and are hood lined with fur. They never go out of fashion. Choose long ones—in brown and beige tones.

Shirts
Coming to shirts, I recommend a distinct blend of weaves ranging from pinpoint oxford, grindle to waffles and knits. We have already discussed in our previous blogs the several ways in which shirts can be woven, each lending a unique and contrasting look to them. The over shirts, which are normally worn over a vest or t-shirt, are suitable for casual vibes.  I like sustainable shirts featuring lyocell, a very durable, yet smooth fabric, having an extremely soft hand feel to it, and is totally environmental friendly.  And there is the heavy Canadian tuxedo look-alike Denim jacket, shirt and bottom that are also high-end fashion and bang on trend right now. Some of the denim, manufactured from premium mills and fabrics, provide simply the fancy and tasteful vibe to the complete look.

Lastly, if you ask me to enumerate a few must-haves for men to get prepared for the fall-winter transition phase, they range from a wide range of outfit from indigo denim, denim shirt, denim jacket, turtleneck sweater, drawstring jogger/pant, with leather boot as accessories. If any of you have these pieces in your closet, rest assured, you can enjoy this fabulous transitional phased marked by style, comfort and high-fashion.

IS THERE A SO-CALLED ‘PERFECT’ MEN’S SUIT COLOR AND FIT THIS FALL?

While it’s a fact that brides dazzle brighter than grooms on wedding days. Commonsense will tell you that brides are more concerned about how they present their attire than grooms can ever conjure with. But that’s not the end of the story. If your wedding is just around the corner, you wouldn’t want to cut a sorry figure, and stand out from the crowd. This said wedding preparations can be quite a headache if you are unsure over choosing the right color for your suit, be it ready-made or tailored. Here is a blog which I compiled that, I believe, will serve as a primer for choosing the right color. And this also begs the question, is there anything called the men’s suit color and cut this fall? Read on to help you choose the right suit color and fit for the big day.

As a rule, select a bold colorful suit in the case of an unconventional wedding.
– > If the gameplan is a rather unconventional wedding, then you can play around with your groom attire by selecting a vibrantly colorful blazer or jacket for your suit. Nowadays, grooms are of the opinion that bold and unique colors including navy blue, an everlasting color; dark green or burgundy, colors that signify good fortune; or even red, considered to the color of passion and love are natural choices.
– > Gray, silver, purple, royal blue, mustard and gold wedding suits are also highly popular and help grooms to feel more confident.
– > You can even take the road less travelled and go for unconventional fabrics and prints for your blazer. For instance, I recommend picking a checkered turquoise jacket having a formal cut.

What do you think is the best Wedding Suit Fit?
Working on different fit measurements is always a challenge for me (trust me). This is why I feel more than anything else, deciding the right fit holds the key to suiting your body type.

The Regular Fit Wedding Suit
Fall, or any season for that matter, wedding suits built with a classic/regular cut are perfect for gentlemen who pick a classic style.  Regular groom suits are highly comfortable compared to other suit types because both the jacket, as well as the trousers, has a loose fit around the body. Nevertheless, that doesn’t indicate it has a poor fit; only that it is made to flatter larger, increasingly muscular body types.

The Slim Fit Wedding Suit
Slim wedding suits are one of the most preferred outfit choices for grooms. They are next to skin, which makes them the most perfect fit for gentlemen built with an athletic body type. Normally, for these suit types, the cut is narrower around the chest, waist and arms for both jacket as well as trousers.

DO YOU KNOW WHEN THE WINTER AND FALL SEASONS START IN FASHION?

It goes without saying that for everything…yes, for everything there is a season. Ask about the season when love is in the air, spring is anybody’s guess! Similarly, fashion is an area just about anything else in one’s life. Fashion is best understood by the season it represents, and it is not easy to keep pace with the changing fashion trends as seasons keep changing. Take a deeper dive, and you’ll gain a little more insight into the start and end of the different fashion seasons; therefore, understanding the nuances of fashion based on the different seasonal changes should be easy-peasy. We have compiled a rather timely blog that offers a better understanding of the start and end of the fall and winter seasons.

Fall and winter collections may have hit the local stores by July, and summer and spring clothes occupy the shelves before the melting action of the snow begins. No wonder, there is always confusion when exactly the fall season starts and ends. Take a look at how the fashion industry seems to bombard the online and social media space with season’s merchandise collection, and there is little we get to know outside of the fashion world.  Anyways, no hush-hush, right?

The fashion industry comes alive and turns fully functional during two distinct seasons. Spring/summer refers to the six-month period during January-June, and fall/winter is the period from July through December.  However, some individual stores or designers may choose to function with slightly altered timings or month. Retailers also get to check the latest collections in the market and start stocking the forthcoming season’s collections.

The rise of the Fall
Fall fashion generally becomes available at stores by July—also the perfect time for back-to-back school shopping. Summer and spring merchandise usually goes full throttle as a permanent sales at this point of time. Fall clothing is often characterized by earthly or jewel-tone color tones (according to the trends), heaver fabric types, long sleeves, light outerwear and longer sleeves. Retailers may provide weather-appropriate outfit in stores that are located in warmer climes.

The winter cum holiday shopping season during Thanksgiving and Christmas is important as it marks a flashy period of continuous shopping spree. Clothing during the winter and vacation usually hits the stores stating from late October to early November and the trend continues throughout the year. Whatever be the fashion trend, heavy outwear, velvet fabrics and embellished outfit usually occupy the store shelves.

Seasonless Dressing
“Seasonless dressing” is defined as a trend of wearing the same type of fashion all throughout the year. People are exposed to climate-controlled conditions nowadays. Because the latest air-conditioned workspace and heated cars do the intended functions exceedingly well, there isn’t much demand for heavy winter wear. Winter and fall wear may feel and look less autumnal—designers may like to project lighter colors and fabrics. In few places, summer wear has become increasingly ubiquitous as year-round clothing—warm-weather clothing can be adjusted for fall through layering—turtlenecks  and tights below.
