Does your shirt have a ‘point collar’ or a ‘spread collar’

The spread collar and point collar are two of the most popular  shirt collar styles. While the length of the collar is the same the width of a point collar from point to point is smaller than the spread collar .  A spread collar will always visually make your face look wider and the point collar will make your face longer.  The spread collar also allows more room for a wider tie knot than the point collar, due to the extra space between the collar points.

Now let me explain how to wear shirts, having a point collar and what it’s best for. It’s great for anyone with a no-nonsense who wants to maintain a more streamlined wardrobe. For a casual, regular look, I would rather you try a spread collar shirt with jeans, dress pants or chinos.
