1940s – No Pocket Flaps, Vests And Trouser Cuffs

#ThrowbackThursdays
Starting with 1940 up until 1949, suits were made without pocket flaps, vests and trouser cuffs. The men that didn’t see the light of battleground wanted to look as austere as possible, and therefore simplicity with (if any) details became the order of the day. The zoot suit was castigated for its overly use of fabric, though not frequently worn. Post-war, double-breasted jackets made a comeback, and so did the wider trousers. Colors too re-appeared, and hand-painted silk ties became a fad.
